The Adelaide Convention Tourism Authority (ACTA) is a private sector, non profit, membership-based organisation that promotes South Australia to the high yield meetings, conventions, exhibitions and incentive market. Established in 1972, ACTA has developed a reputation for being a results-driven organisation that delivers tangible benefits for its members.
ACTA activities in the business events market inject millions of dollars into the South Australian economy each year. In 2003/2004 ACTA secured 36 events to South Australia with an economic impact of more than $39 million to the State's economy. In total, ACTA generated 95, 594 bed nights and entered the new year with 34 bid decisions pending.
HOW WE DO IT!
Our Business Events team maintains an extensive database of association and corporate bodies, tracking their meeting history and converting sales leads by direct communication with decision-makers. We identify priority markets in Australia and overseas and encourage decision-makers in those regions to hold their meetings in South Australia.
Other activities include sales calls and participation at trade shows such as the annual Asia Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo. We also work with business tourism operators to develop incentives and packages to encourage conference organisers to choose South Australia, and work with South Australian-based organisations who want to attract their national or international parent bodies to stage their next conference in SA.
